Oh dear. I’ve been rather tardy with my updates, haven’t I?

The thing is, I’ve just not found the news all that interesting lately. So BoringBush came to town. So rather a lot of A-level students skived for the day to go round chanting and pulling effigies down. So I’ve not been writing.

Perhaps it’s time to take up a hobby.

A little while ago I did the “find the age of your inner child” quiz. I was duly impressed to find that my inner child was 16. Typical, I thought…you pour life and soul into the youth work of your local church and look how you end up. Just like them.

I’m slightly more impressed to find that (having done the “find out which super heroine you are” quiz) I am Shadow Cat, and extreeemely cool character from XMen. Woohoo…a techie chick who can slide through walls…nice one!

…and place them in their best light.” Jennie Jerome Churchill (1854 – 1921)

A little something to do this weekend (if you live in/near London).

Take a trip (on a bus- you can see more) to Knightsbridge and make your way to the Natural History Museum. There is a marvellous aerial photography exhibit in the grounds outside and the wonderful thing is that it’s a bit of culture- completely free!

Especially if you’re with your beau- take a stroll as it starts getting dark. The exhibition nestles among the trees in the grounds of the museum (also free) and as each stand is beautifully lit, the atmosphere is delightful; it feels like you could be stepping into a Parisienne picture.

I was truly inspired by our Wibsite’s Trouser Semaphore plug. So when I found this site I don’t mind telling you that I got more than a bit excited. The mastery at work… no. I won’t spoil the fun. Just go take a look.

According to The Times today “Air pollution is not an issue at Stansted because the countryside around the Essex airport is sparsely populated”.

I’m quite pleased that Heathrow is unable to expand by adding (yet another) runway. Sadly they have decided that the only feasible option is to add one to Stansted Airport (due to European anti-pollution law) circa 2018.

I have a theory.

People expand. I mean, whatever the space we are given, we always (not unlike water) expand to fit it- and then we demand more. I’m sure that if the powers that be just said “Nope. Sorry. No more airport space.”, then we’d just deal with it and that would be that. Surely no further noxious gases and noise pollution is a good thing

Somehow, though, some bright sparks who want to go further, for longer, for less money, with more convenience and do it all better than everybody else seem to have the idea that yet another strip of tarmac is a good idea.

I feel that Western Humankind is going just a touch off the rails at times. All this hankering after bigger! better! faster! just adds to the turmoil and increasing (and I think unhealthy) bustle of lives already being drowned by the white noise of advertising, peer pressure, spiritual pressures, politics, economics, television, the need for success and acceptance…

Stop the world! We need to get off and rethink some of our more narcissistic tendencies and just chill out.
